False Start

For the first time this year I’m able to find some time to get away from work and spend an extend vacation with family and loved ones. For a few moments it looked as though I had ruined it all before we had even got into our journey. I cleverly managed to leave my hand luggage, including passport, on the train we took to the airport.

  • Designer sunglasses… £12
  • Daring low cut swimwear… £25
  • Missing my flight & flying via Lyon… £540
  • Spending time away from work… Priceless

I’d like to thank all the hard working staff at London Midland Trains and the efficient crews of Air France, without who I wouldn’t have been able to join up with everyone, albeit a few hours late.

You can image my surprise and disappointment when I noticed a crack developing on the rear casing of the phone a month or more ago. I had not dropped my phone or knocked it against anything that could cause the damage. The crack appeared to begin at the ‘silent mode switch‘, the only physically movable switch on the phone. For some reason I tried to ignore it.

Fudge, Glorious Fudge

Mountain of Fudge

Mountain of Fudge

When it comes to the kitchen I have no creative skills. I can cook a meal as long as I don’t have to make anything from scratch. Yes this means that most of my meals are cheese-on-toast, who wouldn’t be happy living off cheese-on-toast, or simple things thrown together without much thought.

A few months back I did discover that I could make fudge. And I enjoyed making fudge. Yes it does only have 6 ingredients and one of those is the flavouring but you do need to get it right to create the perfect fudge. This all came about following a rare urge to be both creative and use the kitchen, looking back on that day it was mostly luck.
